The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned that the COVID-19 — the disease caused the coronavirus — is a “defining global health crisis of our time”, as it urged countries to test all suspected cases.
Governments are limiting travel, both inward and outward, to curb the movement of people. South Korea and China, both wary of imported infections, have tightened requirements for international arrivals. The United States and countries across Europe have closed schools, entertainment venues and all but essential services, in an effort to combat the virus.
More cases are now being reported outside China, where the virus called COVID-19 first originated late last year, than inside.
Globally, the virus has now infected over 160,000 people and killed at least 6 000, according to the WHO.
In Africa, the coronavirus has now been confirmed in at least 30 of the continent‘s 54 countries, as regional power South Africa warned of a new crisis once the virus spreads at home and into crowded low-income communities. The most alarming confirmation of a first case came from Somalia. Tanzania, Liberia and Benin also announced their first cases on Monday.
Some African nations have imposed travel restrictions as many confirmed cases came from abroad. Algeria cut off all air and sea contact with Europe, effective Thursday.
South Africa announced it will revoke nearly thousands of visas issued to people from China and Iran, two of the hardest-hit countries. It also will require visas from several hard-hit countries that had been visa-free, including the United States and Italy.
With the worldwide spread of the deadly virus and the paralysing fear that has accompanied it, the world needs to hear God’s opinion concerning this frightening epidemic.
Preaching in his church earlier this month, the famous man of the cloth said the dreaded viral disease will go away by itself. He mentioned the end of March 2020 specifically as the time the novel virus will go away at its own will, saying the power of medicine cannot remedy the situation because it was not a medicine that brought it.
“I came out at the beginning of this year saying last year will end in March, and the year will continue to be very fearful till this month [March]. This month, 27th, it will be over. By the end of this month, whether we like it or not – no matter the medicine they might have produced to cure whatever, it will go the way it came,” T.B. Joshua declared.
“If it is not a medicine that brought this to the world, medicine cannot take it out. It will go the way it came,” he said to much applause from the congregation.
