Romans 11:29 reads,
“For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.”
The average Christian ordeal is marked by up and downs in life. To qualify my statement: it is not the external I am referring to. The up and downs that surround a man stand as evidence that the man is still living.
For as long as we are still here on earth, there will be highs and lows. But to every man is given the grace to have a consistent walk with God. It is not the intention of God for us to be spiritually hot one moment, and cold the next; yet this is the harsh reality of many.
The Bible declares in Leviticus 6:13,
“The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.”
The first thing in remaining in the fire and zeal of God is in realizing that God is the only constant in our lives. That means that when you are spiritually low, it is not God that has withdrawn but you. James 4:8 shows us that as we draw closer to God, He draws closer to us. By that notion, the common “touch me again Lord, I want to feel your presence” -type of prayer becomes insulting.
It suggests that it is God that is withholding his presence. The same God that we so desire to “fill us up”, is the same God that declared in John 4:14,
“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst…”
I grew up around folks that drank, and what I found was simple but apparently a mystery to most believers. Not one day did I ever see anyone stand outside the liquor store yelling “fill me up.” Beloved, in other words, what I am saying is that “you are filled by the measure of your ability and willingness to drink.”
It is, therefore, my prayer for you this morning: May there be RESTORATION of your relationship with God, as you beginning to drink of the Spirit and eat of the Word!!!
